Ollie Rides 358km in Charity Bike Ride

This article was updated on: 07.02.2022

When a member of the Impression team takes a day off, it’s usually to spend time relaxing or travelling the world on holiday. But when our web project manager Ollie booked a day off this week, it was for a much less relaxing purpose…

Far from chilling out, Ollie spent his day off cycling 358 kilometres from Manchester to East London in a ride that took him just over 13 hours to complete. An incredible feat, we’re sure you’ll agree!

The bike ride, which started at the Manchester Velodrome (home of the Commonwealth Games cycling) and ended at the Olympic Velodrome (home of the Olympic Games cycling), was made by 200 people in aid of the charity Ambitious About Autism. Now in its third year, the ride has raised over £600,000 so far.

It’s not Ollie’s first long distance bike ride, and is unlikely to be his last. A keen cyclist and fitness enthusiast, he recently completed a half Iron-Man triathlon. He also participated in a bike ride of 118km around the Peak District with a selected group of digital marketing folk from both client and agency side as part of a Google and YouTube run event.

Check out the photos from this weekend’s ride below. If you’d like to sponsor Ollie, it’s not too late! Visit his Just Giving page at https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/mcr2ldn.

Fun fact about his ride: the next day, Ollie ate 2 full English breakfasts! And he really struggled with the stairs up to the Impression office this morning…
