Diversity and inclusion

An open environment that empowers all

We don’t want you to fit into our culture, we want you to add to it. We want to create an environment where diverse talent wants to work, stay with us and do their best in their role. That’s why we’re passionate about ensuring diversity and inclusion is at the heart of our culture, enabling every individual the equal opportunity to succeed. It’s integral to being a true ally.

Diversity and Inclusion

We’re committed to embracing diversity and promoting equal opportunities, both within our teams and through the services we provide. But we know we still have work to do.

We’re listening and we’re learning

Improving fairness – in our agency and our industry – is something we’re passionate about, and we’re committed to having the conversations, making the changes and helping other businesses to do the same.

Our pledge

We pledge to promote equal opportunities and, as per the Equality Act 2010, will not tolerate discrimination on the grounds of: gender, gender identity, marital status, sexual orientation, race, colour, nationality, religion, age, disability, caring responsibilities or beliefs. We’ll also make every effort to represent different genders, ethnicities, socio-economic backgrounds and sexualities at the events, panels and discussions we run.

Creating equal opportunities

We want every person to be treated the same irrespective of how they identify themselves, their beliefs and their background. That’s why we have a zero tolerance of any behaviour that conflicts with our commitment to inclusivity.

We think it goes without saying that discrimination or inappropriate behaviour of any kind to any person connected to any characteristics – not just those protected by law – won’t be tolerated.

This includes behaviour connected to marital or civil partner status, age, disability, gender reassignment, pregnancy or maternity, race, colour, nationality, ethnic or national origin, religion or belief, sex or sexual orientation (these are known as “protected characteristics”).

Before publishing any new job vacancies at Impression, our adverts and descriptions are run through our diversity and inclusion portal, YourD&I, to analyse and decode the language we use to ensure it’s inclusive to all genders and identities.

Transparency plays an important role in both our life and culture at Impression. For both our people and our new talent ready to join us, we’ve introduced clear salary bandings as well as role responsibilities and ways to progress initiatives that are visible throughout the company.

Being an ally

Supportive policies

We understand that many of our people come from all walks of life and require support in many different ways. In order to support you the best way we can, we provide an extensive and inclusive range of policies and benefits, such as private medical insurance, compassionate leave, parent bereavement leave, adoption leave, maternity/pregnant parent leave, paternity/non-pregnant parent leave, and more.

We recognise that some of our people may not identify with the term ‘maternity’ or ‘paternity’. To ensure inclusivity for our LGBTQIA+ parents, we’re using the terms ‘pregnant parent’ and ‘non-pregnant parent’ throughout our policies.

All parents are also entitled to parental leave of up to 4 weeks each year for each child. Whatever the reason, where you need to be away from work and with your children – just speak to us, we’ll always try to support.

A force for good

Our impact team

Business as a force for good is one of our core values. From the beginning, we’ve been mindful that everything we do has an impact: on our people, on our planet, and on the wider community. However big our business grows, it will always be part of something much bigger.

We have an internal Impact Team who work together under three pillars

  • CSR and sustainability
  • Diversity and inclusion
  • Health and wellbeing

The team is formed of volunteers from across the business, who have worked on a calendar of initiatives to work towards our objectives for that year. The team meets quarterly to review progress. See what the team have been up to recently.
