The client

Carsnip will be the UK’s most comprehensive car website, giving its users a much simpler and faster way to search for a new car. Combining vehicle information with costs and finance tools, Carsnip allows ordinary people to make much better informed decisions on the car they buy. Its founders, having worked with Impression on another project – Company Check – were keen to work with us again thanks to our ability to gain them extensive coverage in the places that would attract attention from potential customers and investors. Our digital PR team worked with Carsnip in the run up to a major launch event.

The challenge

Our client is relatively new player in an increasingly competitive marketplace. They enlisted the help of Impression’s digital PR and content marketing teams to:

  • Deliver successful launch campaign for fast-growing tech startup
  • Raise awareness of the business among tech-angel investor market
  • Increase end-user engagement of the brand and its USPs
  • Support industry launch event with effective pre and post-launch PR campaign

The strategy

Carsnip was a young tech startup with a fantastic idea that needed to raise awareness of its brand among multiple different target markets quickly. After strong results from its first tech-angel funding round – $1m committed from backers behind Pinterest, Google and Microsoft – they asked us to showcase their success and credentials, the product and its technology and benefits to the investment press, car dealer publications and motoring consumer outlets.  

We began by devising a detailed six-month digital PR campaign with the client, working with them to identify the most relevant and newsworthy angles for their business objectives at that point in time. It’s not enough to say every business has a story to tell; every business has the right story to tell that matches their own ambitions and delivers the best results – we helped Carsnip find theirs.

Next, we created a series of impactful and engaging content marketing pieces and PR stories for us to distribute to each of the target sectors. These included industry reports, white papers, investment updates, press releases and case studies. There was also an extensive profile building campaign carried out to promote the senior Carsnip team.

We then embarked on a sustained media relations campaign, liaising with journalists in the motor industry, consumer and investment press to sell-in the Carsnip story. Setting up a series of media interviews and press days, we delivered increased exposure and awareness of their brand in front of the people that matter to them. This was further achieved by our work to support them before, during and after one of their industry’s most high-profile events.

Our work resulted in a series of high-profile features and press coverage. Our approach to collaborative working, ambitious ideas and understanding of how the media works exceeded the client’s expectations.

The results

For this project, we were primarily judged on the number and quality of links to and features of Carsnip online. Carsnip raised brand awareness via features in and links from high quality, authority websites that reached national and trade publications.
