This article was updated on: 07.02.2022

Nottingham digital PR executive Lauren Wilson has made front page news today, in a feature which explores what it’s really like to work in this fast-growing new discipline.

Lauren, who joined digital PR and marketing agency Impression in June this year, recently graduated from the University of Nottingham and is excited to be starting her career in the digital industry. Her role is highly varied and focuses on the use of traditional and new PR techniques to gain coverage and brand building features for the agency’s portfolio of clients, alongside experienced digital PR manager Rob Tomkinson.

Speaking of her role, Lauren, 22, said: “It’s rare that I sit and do the same thing for longer than two hours. I also get to meet lots of people who are running innovative services or who have created futuristic products.

“Digital PR and marketing are evolving every day. Who knows where the industry will have got to in ten years’ time!”

Lauren, who has a degree in English Literature and French, will soon begin studying again for a qualification run by the PRCA (Public Relations Consultants Association) as part of her ongoing career development with Impression.

Lauren is a key member of the 15-strong team and since joining Impression has been an integral part of the growth of the digital PR area of the business. Impression, which was founded in 2012 and employed its first PR manager, Rob Tomkinson, soon after has long extolled the benefits of digital PR and has noticed the recent rise in digital PR roles emerging in the city.

Speaking of the growth of digital PR, Impression’s MD Aaron Dicks said: “Digital PR is a really important part of the marketing mix. Businesses that want to be found online understand the importance of building brand awareness and credibility through high-quality features in places of relevance and authority. Through the practices of digital PR, we are able to help our clients to develop their brand stories and promote them to support wider digital marketing success.

“The link between digital PR and SEO is strong, and we believe this is why we’re seeing more SEO agencies recruiting PRs and PR agencies recruiting SEOs. It’s an exciting time for the profession and we’re proud to be frontrunners in the field.”

Impression has grown quickly since its incorporation and recently welcomed 4 new members to its team. The young agency moved into a dedicated, 2,500 square foot office in Stoney Street, Nottingham. As well as digital PR, they also offer SEO, PPC and content marketing.
