The inaugural Tech on Toast meetup

This article was updated on: 07.02.2022

There’s a rumour in the industry that Nottingham’s tech scene is going to blow up over the coming years and the inaugural Tech on Toast is evidence of what a great place for tech the city is right now.

The event was held at Nottingham’s growth hub and co-working space Accelerate Places in their great auditorium space, to welcome people from web design agencies. The smell of fresh coffee, pastries and bacon cobs were waiting for the bleary-eyed attendees arriving for the 7.30am start and there was a big turnout for the event with over 40 people in attendance.

There were two excellent presentations from local tech businesses, kicking off with Olly Betts, CEO of BizFiTech, a business on “a mission to transform business finance, making it as transparent, fast and flexible as consumer finance.” Olly presented a great summary of business growth, product innovation and the challenges running a tech start-up.

This presentation was followed by Dom Finn, Software Development Manager at UNiDAYS, discussing the challenges of mobile app development in a fast-paced, high-growth business. Tackling the subject from a more technical perspective he gave interesting insights into the frameworks behind UNiDAYS mobile apps and the roadmap for mobile development in 2017.

I’m already looking forward to the next Tech on Toast in February, for more information and get the date for the next event visit Tech Nottingham.
