Impression and the University of Nottingham are joining forces for the second year in a row to run the Digital Marketing Academy. The programme will kick off with the Digital Marketing Showcase on Tuesday 30th October, giving interested students the chance to learn more about the programme and meet the people involved.

After the Showcase, Impression will be involved in a series of workshops and webinars that discuss the latest developments in the world of digital marketing. Alongside other local businesses (details to be confirmed), we will give students an insight into the latest trends in our industry and the opportunities available for them in Nottingham. November’s Drink Digital event will also be linked to the Academy, giving students and Nottingham marketers another opportunity to meet and talk.

The Digital Marketing Academy is not just a series of talks. The idea is to give Nottingham’s students a worthwhile experience that will make them more employable when they graduate. Alongside the workshops and webinars, students are also encouraged to complete two industry-recognised Google certificates – normally Google Digital Garage and Google Analytics Fundamentals.

If they attend at least one event and complete the two qualifications, students are given the opportunity to visit Impression or another participating agency for a Digital Insight Day. We enjoyed hosting eight students for the 2017/18 Insight Day, running sessions on SEO, PPC, CRO and the importance of blogging. To learn more about the day, read our blog post.

The Digital Marketing Academy is an exciting initiative to be a part of. Although we work with clients across the UK and further afield, Nottingham is where it all started for Impression. More than half of our team graduated from either Nottingham Trent University or the University of Nottingham, which highlights the significant role that the universities have played in fuelling our growth.

One of the hardest things for students graduating in 2019 and in the foreseeable future is gaining the right experience to give them a chance at their ideal careers. The Digital Marketing Academy is one initiative that we are involved in with the aim of providing students with a tangible step up into the world of digital marketing. The experience that they will gain through the workshops and insight days, along with the industry-recognised Google qualifications that they can obtain, stand them in good stead to enter the industry when they graduate.
